Honor to Supreme Grandmaster Dr. Moses Powell

Dr. Moses Powell was born on January 13, 1941 to Athenia and Moses Powell, and passed away on January 22nd, 2005 due to respiratory complications. He was a man destined to be amazing. He fathered three daughters and mentored thousands of students. He has made greatness a part of the very essence of his teachings. For more than 50 years martial arts became the core of his life . His teaching method was "let me show you". And when he showed you, you knew you had experienced something powerful enough to change lives. Hence at Force & Power Academy the student constantly hear, "What is more valuable a warning or an example... The answer an Example..."

In 1965, Dr. Powell was the featured martial artist at the New York World's Fair. The following year in 1966, he was the first martial artist to receive The African Benign Arts Award. Between 1967 and 1968, Dr. Powell pioneered his craft by traveling overseas. There, he introduced Sanuces Ryu Ji Jitsu to the orient in the early 1970's. But in 1959 Sanuces Ryu was in the cradle of the dojos he governed.

In January of 2003, Dr. Powell spoke these words, "I have been called the Pioneer, the Missionary, and the Lumberjack of Martial Arts. When I think about it, I'd like to be remembered as the man I am...Moses Powell. It's not about making yourself anything; but it is about earning your rewards as you go along. Remember, there is no such thing as a book master, you have to fight in the trenches or on the mat..."

Dr. Powell was inducted into the International African Arts Festival's "Living Legend" Award, and was the first African-American to teach the FBI, Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies around the world.




He is known for the "one finger rollout". His intense focus, application of knowledge and forceful soldier spirit helped him to attain immense tasks including the art of balancing his entire body on one finger for a short time while completely inverted in an attack roll out. The truth remains that no one blocks a roll out, you can only hope to get out of the way.

Grandmaster (Professor) Anthony Sampson teaches every student, that the most dangerous person in a dojo is not the black belt nor is it the Grandmaster who teaches the majestic movements of martial arts. But the most dangerous person in the dojo is the new beginner, the white belt or the novice. This is because they do not know their own strength. Therefore to "Know thy self" is the key to a successful class.

Most accidents occur because beginners apply too much pressure to a technique. Believe it or not many injuries are self inflicted. At Force and Power Academy we are taught the theory of martial arts, where skill trumps strength. If you have to muscle your way through a technique than your are suffering through a bad experience.

Ask your Sensei for the theory of what he/she teaches. Trust me they welcome all questions that promote the safety of their dojo. Good posture is the foundation of proper form and confidence matched with understanding is the route to success. Force and Power Academy

Grandmaster Anthony Sampson (Muhammad) born August 4, 1969. Founded Force and Power Academy in 1996 on a rainy Wednesday night. Has taught over two thousand loyal students, many are black belts. Father of two sons Mizon and Khalil. Enlisted in the united States Marine Corps in 1988, honorable discharge. Currently (94 to present)a Master Senior Drill Instructor for the troubled youth of Youthbuild New York. Dojos are located in Maryland and California. In 1994 he committed himself to the guidence of the Honorable Minister Farrakhan and registered in the Nation of Islam. He became the 1st office of Maryland in the years of 97-99. Brother Anthony X along with Brother Tyrone X was the head of Executive Defense for Dr. Benjamin Chavis (and family) and the Million Man March Headquarters in Washington D.C. from 95-96 and was committed to other related campaigns that followed. Worked directly with Dr. Benjamin Chavis, former CEO of the NAACP. As a result he incorporated a security company called Executive Protection Agency in 1998. Many clients were high profile executives, media interest, pastors and celeberties. He soon liquidated all interest upon Brother Joe Hall former Director of Security for Marriott Hotels. In 1996 he established his dojo Force & Power Academy for the benifit of the brothers in the Baltimore, Mosque #6. As a student of many forms of martial arts and benifactor of numerous mentors the academy was born and apporpriate. In 1999 he was sent to train armor beares for churches by The Supreme Captain Sherrif Muhammad and Regional Captain Akil Muhammad.

Soon he became the Govenor of Bishop Affairs, Minister of Protocol and Minister of the Bread of Life at the Cathedral Church and ministries in Baltimore, MD for Bishop Darnel F. Johnson. In 2001, Mr. Anthony Sampson opened Dignitary Protective Agency in MD (DPA). Earlier in 2001, Mr. Anthony was blessed to be the assistant Sensei of Kick Masters founded by Grandmaster Dulaney Muhammad. Today Mr. Sampson is the overseer of the schools. Also in 2001 he attended Morgan State University for a BA in business administration. 2002 became a brother of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity incorporated, Bloody Pi Chapter, the Fatal Five. Among the "Bruhz" he is effectively named and called Goliath 3 Pi. November 2005 Mr Anthony left Baltimore, and traveled to Texas, Florida and finally California where he opened FPA of Riverside, CA. April 2006 Anthony Sampson was elevated to Senior Elder of Kingdom Worship Center in Riverside, CA by Pastor Ji Nelson. Today Anthony Sampson is a realtor with Tarbell, Realtors in California.
